Financial Guarantees

All applicants who intend to enter in Italy or in Shengen Territory must provide proof that they have sufficient funds to cover the expenses of their planned stay (most recent bank statement/s).

The sum of financial guarantee required to travel to Italy is calculated on the basis of the parameters approved be the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Italy (see the table below) and does not include the costs of travel tickets and accommodation.

Any of the following documents will be considered sufficient proof of financial resources:

  • Applicant’s original Bank account statement (in any currency). Bank account statement is valid not more than 30 days.

  • Applicant’s original and copy of the savings account

  • Travelers Cheques original and copy

  • Copy of Applicant’s credit card and ATM receipt including account balance. ATM receipt is valid at most 3 days from the day it was taken from ATM to the day of the document submission.

  • Applicant’s Bank guarantee (fidejussione bancaria) or bank statement/s from your Host in Italy guaranteeing the Applicant’s travel expenses (polizza fidejussoria). Original and copy signed by the signatory of the Invitation Letter

  • Original and copy of the guarantee letter (buono fruttifero postale) issued by Italian Post Office

Attention: Sponsorship is allowed only by close relatives (parents/legal guardians, legal spouses, adult children). In case of minors sponsorship is allowed ONLY by their parents/legal guardians. The following documents should be provided for sponsorship:

1. parent’s financial guarantee;

2. documents confirming family relationship (birth or marriage certificate – original + copy). In case of changing the surname / s, supporting documents must be also provided (marriage certificate, divorce certificate, name change certificate, etc.);

3. sponsorship letter in free form, in English or Italian;

4. sponsor’s identity card (copy of the main spread of internal passport).

 

In the event that the applicant is unemployed or without a source of their own income, but is married to a spouse who receives a stable income from work, with which he supports the whole family, it is necessary that the applicant attach to the visa application:
- A certificate from the employer of the spouse, which indicates his monthly salary;
- A statement from the spouse (the one who is employed) stating that he is providing for the support of the unemployed spouse applying for a visa.

The same applies to non-working students who need to attach:
- A certificate from the employer of one of the parents, which indicates his monthly salary;
- A statement from the parent (the one who is employed) stating that he provides for the maintenance of the child (student) applying for a visa.

*How to calculate? For 15 day trip: 51,64 (fixed amount) + 36,67 * 15 = 601,69 euro’s.
